Little Fighter, Big Journey is a motherhood blog where I share our true journey with my daughter Imani, who faced and still faces incredible health challenges. From the moment I was 30 weeks pregnant, through the NICU, surgeries, and moments of deep fear, to the small victories that followed – this blog tells our story with honesty and hope.
I write to encourage other parents walking a similar, difficult path, reminding them they are not alone and that even in the hardest moments, courage and love can carry us through. Along the way, I share the milestones we celebrated, the lessons we learned, and the toys and products that truly helped Imani in her development, hoping they can help other families too.

Hi, my name is Cynthia. I was born in the warm heart of Benin City, Nigeria, and moved to Belgium with my family when I was nine years old. Over time, this little country became my home, a place where I grew, dreamed, loved… and became a mother.
I’m a midwife by training, now working in the operating room. Every day I witness the strength of the human spirit, the fragility of life, and the deep value of each breath, each heartbeat, each small victory.
I’m married to the love of my life, my rock, my safe place, and together we were blessed with the most precious gift: our daughter, Imani. This blog is dedicated to her. To us. To the journey we’ve walked, and are still walking as the parents of a little girl who faces life with unimaginable courage.
Imani was born with esophageal and duodenal atresia, a rare condition that turned our world upside down from the very beginning. What followed was not a simple road, not a straight line. It’s a story of hope, of pain, of strength, of setbacks and steps forward… and above all, a story of love.
I write to give her story a voice. To share our path — for ourselves, for others who might see their own journey reflected here, and for anyone who has ever felt alone in the struggle.
