About Us
We are a small family with a big journey. When we found out we were expecting Imani, we could never have imagined how much strength, faith, and love would be required of us as parents. Imani was born with esophageal atresia and duodenal atresia — two rare conditions that meant her first breaths were taken in the NICU, surrounded by machines and monitors, instead of in our arms at home. From the very start, she showed us what it means to be a fighter. Her tiny body underwent surgeries that would terrify any parent to watch, yet she faced each challenge with the quiet, steady courage only a child can have. We learned to celebrate the smallest victories: a breath taken on her own, a moment without alarms, a gentle squeeze of our fingers in her tiny hand. We learned to live in the hospital halls, to count the beeps on the monitors and to find hope in test results. We learned to love deeper than we ever thought possible.
Imani’s journey has not been easy. There were days filled with fear and exhaustion, nights of tears and whispered prayers, moments where we didn’t know if we could keep going. There were setbacks that shattered the fragile rhythm we were learning to live by, and there were procedures that left us waiting and hoping, holding our breath until we could exhale again. But we’ve also found beauty in the hardest moments.
We discovered how strong we can be for each other, and for her. Through surgeries, NICU stays, and recovery, one thing has remained true: Imani is here, and she is our miracle. We are still on this journey. Some days are heavy, and some days are filled with light. We continue to face each new challenge together, hand in hand, heart with her. Because just knowing she’s still with us gives us the strength to keep going — and to keep fighting for her.
